According to the report, in order to be ranked, the magazine teamed up with American Institutes for Research to evaluate schools in three areas: overall student performance on state-mandated assessments, the effectiveness by which the schools educated minorities and those who were economically disadvantaged, and then performance in advanced placement and International Baccalaureate exams. The schools then earned gold, silver, and bronze medals based on the outcome of the analysis.

Fifty-two percent of students, according to the survey, take AP classes, with 100 percent showing proficiency in English and 96 percent in Math. The school received a college readiness index of 46.9.
