Assessors Continue Inspections; Cake Decorating Competition at the Library

Here's what we think you should know-or would like to know-on Wednesday, July 24.

1. Are you happy it's almost over? The final stretch of the Downtown Improvement Project is underway, with striping hitting the pavement in the center area this week, and plans for the final synchronizing of the street lights taking place in the coming weeks.

2. Heart & Stone Jewelry - Custom Handmade Charms & Rings, which recently opened at 269 West Main St., just launched an Indiegogo campaign! "We enjoy giving back to the community and being able to provide local jobs," said the owner.

3. The library's hosting two big events on Tuesday: Music with Ms. Carrie and a cake decorating contest. These events fill up quickly, and often sell out, so call ahead to make sure there's space.

4. Prepare your wallets. Those with town sewer can expect a rate increase by the end of the year. Water customers, too, will see a base fee added to the statement. Read about the latest water and sewer study and changes to the utility.

5. The Board of Assessors continues its cyclical inspections of real estate parcels within the town of Northborough through Aug. 1. The Department of Revenue requires that the assessors attempt to inspect all real estate parcels in the community once every nine years in order to maintain accurate data on each parcel.
