On the article SOUND OFF: How Should Schools Handle 'Grinding' at Dances?
Dee Dubleyoo

ReplySo, sounds like the kids had to leave the dance early because they were being tools. Not because they were grinding, necessarily. From what I've read the schools made the right choice.

ReplySo a woman who was in court for a case herself just happens to know this guy and attests to the fact that he's creepy? I believe her - but that's a coincidence.

On the article SOUND OFF: How Have Salmonella, Listeria Outbreaks Affected Your Habits?

ReplyUglyhat, that made me chuckle! Honestly, I don't think there's much we can do about these recalls. I try to as a general rule buy things for my family that are good for you and have a limited amount of preservatives. And besides the Frosted Mini wheats (which arguably aren't that bad for you either, if you forget the "frosted" part), the latest recalls have been of natural peanut butter and lettuce, both of which are healthy! It's disconcerting but thankfully these recalls are the exception, not the rule.

ReplyNatalie, what I think is sad is a kid getting sick. Your judgmental attitude toward people who buy from WalMart and target is disappointing. believe it or not, you can find some of these products at all of the stores subject to this recall. Clearly. That's why the recall is extended to all of them.

On the article SOUND OFF: 'Warm Love' Vs. 'Tough Love' and Respect?
Dee Dubleyoo
4:42 pm on Wednesday, August 29, 2012
ReplyI watched the convention and the "mash up" of clips and I believe what the commentators were saying is that Ann was focusing on a "warm" love for her husband, and empathy for people in tough situations...Christie was talking about "tough love," like making hard decisions for the good of the whole versus making the popular decision. I.e. clamping down on expenses that may benefit the individual but not the country as a whole. They're contradictory also because Christie was contrasting love and respect while Ann was talking about the importance of love. Kind of complicated but I see where buzzfeed was going with this.

ReplyThese sites are awesome. Wish I thought of it myself. I'm torn though - I do think people share too much, in general - whether it's kids, pets, their own personal bathroom (or bedroom, yikes!) habits. At the same time, their posts amuse me highly, so I want them to keep it up.

I'm wondering if it was a man who was Tazed in the Apple store, would we be having this conversation? I think there's a perception that particularly with "poor, defenseless" women, officers should go more than out of their way to not use a higher response on the continuum force, even if it's at the risk of their own personal safety. Man or woman, short or tall, if I'm a cop and you're flailing your arms around me or at me, I'm going to do what I have to do to get the job done and protect myself. Am I the only one who thinks this woman is being portrayed as more of a victim than she would if she were a man? Am I the only one who thinks that's unfair?
