Black Friday Protesters to Take on Walmart This Week

The store, meanwhile, says it's ready for the holiday shopping event.

Large groups of labor and community workers are preparing to hold a Black Friday protest at several Walmart locations across the state this Friday, including the Walpole branch of the store, according to an announcement from Jobs with Justice.   Friday's action comes just a month after delegations of concerned customers spread to locations across Massachusetts to demand an end to the store's retaliation against its employees, according to JWJ.  Workers began taking action at warehouses and retail stories nationwide in October, speaking out against low wages, unsafe working conditions and Walmart's attempts to slice workers' voices on the job. Strikes have reportedly taken place in California, Washington and Texas so far. Good for them. I know an employee there and believe me, Walmart has no respect for its employees. One minor example is how they change an employee's schedule with barely a day's notice, regardless of whether or not it will affect a person's personal life.
