However, the Better Business Bureau is warning of the financial threats that can come from online dating. Scammers can pose as anyone online, they say. The BBB and Western Union have partnered to offer consumers tips on how to avoid scams. Wine Lovers May Say 'Je T'Aime' on Valentine's Day

Julio's Liquors holds a wine tasting Thursday.

A bottle of wine says “I love you” on Valentine’s Day, literally. “Je T’Aime is one of the nicest wines, I think, for the holiday, just because it’s ‘I love,’” Julio’s Liquors Wine Director Abraham Lerner said Tuesday. Valentine’s Day is the theme of the latest weekly wine tasting at Julio’s, at 140 Turnpike Road, from 7 to 8 p.m. Thursday. Lerner said he will present about 10 wines, “a cross section” of the options. “These events that we do are great ways for people to taste things that they might not normally do because they have to pay for an entire bottle.,” he said. “And the price range we usually taste from is anywhere from $7 up to $150 a bottle.” Besides Je T’Aime, Lerner recommends for Valentine’s Day a Rosa Regale Brachetto, “…

Looking for Love Online: Have You Tried It?

There's even an online dating site exclusively for farmers.

About 12 years ago, before online dating had really taken off, Jennifer Luke, MSW LCSW, decided she would give it a whirl. She found love, and marriage, eventually, after going on about 13 dates. "He was very sweet and we chatted for a few weeks before we met," said Luke, who is from Shrewsbury. "While we were chatting online, we realized that we actually grew up in the same town. Rob was very sweet and picked me up for our first date. He had flowers waiting for me and was quite the gentleman, opening car doors for me. We hit it off right away and I knew he was the one. We were engaged on our two-year anniversary and married a year and a half later. We have now been married almost 10 years and have two children and I couldn't be happier." …

Great Escape

Great Escape

Each week, we'll tell you about one great idea to give you a much deserved break, and make your life a little easier -- maybe a whole lot easier.

Escaping on a regular day is challenging enough, but when it's Valentine's Day, you've got a real challenge. Sitters are scarce, restaurants are crowded and coming up with a unique idea is a tall order. Until now. Acupuncture Connections and New Leaf Salon have partnered to bring you and your loved one a night of pampering just in time for Valentine's Day -- but better, because their event is one weekend early. On Friday, Feb. 4 from 6-9 p.m., head over to 290 West Main St. to indulge in mini-acupuncture treatments, chair massage, microcurrent facials, paraffin hand dips and refreshments. R.S.V.P. to info@acupunctureconnections.com. Isn't a little free romance worth the price of a sitter?
