Local Guy Wins a Hunk o' Beef, Texas Style

This guy won the most recent contest given by the Texas BBQ Company.

Now, that's a lot of beef. Smoky, grilled, premium beef, at that. Fernando Valverde won the most recent Texas BBQ  Company drawing. Each Thursday, the restaurant gives diners a chance at winning an entree. This week, Valverde enjoyed a certified angus beef smoked bone-in ribeye steak, which weighed 2.28 pounds. And this included sides. We're not sure if he finished it.

Lowe and Behold, It's a Father's Day Steak-Out

Yeah, you can probably share it with him, but here are the top five beef cuts from Lowe's.

We try not to stereotype. Perhaps dad's a sushi guy, or prefers a tofu scramble. But for the meat and potatoes men (and we're willing to bet there are quite a few still out there), Northborough Patch talked to Tom Lowe at Lowe's Variety and Meat Shop to recommend his five top cuts of beef. Light the grill, and char one for dad this Father's Day. Yeah, that's right, we're suggesting you not make him cook. Beef tenderloin, $18.99 a pound Prime sirloin strip steaks, $16.99 a pound Ribeye, $12.99  T-bone, $10.99 New York sirloin, $7.99  "Now these are the top cuts ready for the grill," said Lowe, "so this is only if you don't want to marinate beef kabobs or something like that."
