Plans for the Holiday Trolley have been canceled this year, but the tree lighting is still on.
Started in 2005 as a way to unite the town and promote local small businesses and organizations, the Northborough Holiday Trolley was one of the town's most popular annual events. This year, however, the trolley is canceled, according to Kimberly Reed, manager of the Purple Rose who started the Holiday Trolley along with Vicki Martelli, owner of the Purple Rose, and Patti Murphy, owner of Strut. Reed said, "we're taking a year off due to the downtown project, and allowing newer businesses in town to become established so we can come back stronger." The annual tree lighting, however, is still taking place on Dec. 8. Reed added that many town events are still taking place on this day and all retail shops and restaurants are still open for …

Start your holiday shopping at locally owned stores during Small Business Saturday.
Small Business Saturday is on Nov. 24 this year, two days after Thanksgiving. It is a day for everyone to support the small businesses that their community thrives on. While officially Small Business Saturday takes place on Nov. 23, Northborough has long hosted a "Holiday Trolley" that was created to focus on shopping locally. This year, however, the trolley is taking some time off due to …

The Northborough yoga studio is holding an event this weekend to help raise money for those who were affected by the storm.
The owners and instructors at Ebb 'n' Flow Yoga, like many, were talking about the Hurricane Sandy aftermath. While this area escaped without tragedy, many did not. Ebb 'n' Flow Yoga is hosting an event on Saturday, Nov. 3, from 9-10:15 at the studio, running all levels of yoga classes from beginners to expert. "We decided to do a benefit after discussing how fortunate we were in Northborough compared to the flooding and outages in the midatlantic states," said Caitlin Borsini, who is an instructor at the studio. "We thought it would be nice to give something back to those communities hard hit. Yoga is good for the body and the mind, and with this fundraiser it helps others as well. The cost is $15 for a drop in and there are packages also…
