A sexual assault occurred in Northborough involving a child.
Police expect charges to be filed against an offender in a sexual assault involving a child in Northborough. While the details cannot yet be released, the incident occurred at 7:53 a.m. at a location on Main Street, according to the Northborough police log. "Detective Maffioli is handling a sexual assault case involving a child," said Sgt. Det. Brian Griffin. "He is working with the District Attorney’s Office and we do expect charges to be filed soon. In this case the child knew the adult offender." Due to the circumstances, Griffin said he is unable to discuss the case further at this time, as the matter is "still very much under investigation."
A Northborough man was arrested and arraigned after an indictment on breaking and entering, larceny, and failure to register as a sex offender.
