A now, we can officially get excited about summer. There's nothing like the crack of the bat, the snap of the ball against leather, and the cheers from the stands; baseball is officially back in Northborough for the season. The Northborough Baseball and Softball Association kicks off its opening day on Saturday, May 5, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Memorial Field. The teams line up at the Peaslee School starting at 9 a.m., parading to the field for a ceremony that starts at 9:30 a.m. Activities run all day and include mini-games, home run contests, bouncy houses, a DJ, obstacle course, face painting, hot air balloon, BBQ, raffles and more. People have been asking, "Is there a parade this year?"
It's tough to have a parade when the town's main artery is clogged with construction workers, dirt haulers and detour signs. Ultimately, that's the decision the town and Rotary Club of Northborough has come to regarding the Applefest Parade this year. Given the circumstances, the parade will be canceled for this year, according to Michelle Gillespie, president of the Rotary Club. Applefest, happening Sept. 14-16, will have all the bells and whistles of previous years, though, including the return of the popular fireworks display, which takes place on Sept. 16 at Algonquin Regional High School during the barbecue and concert. Rumors floated around that fireworks might not be happening. Gillespie was happy to report it is indeed confirmed. …
It's all about Applefest, again, today.
1.Boy Scout Troop 101 has its annual pancake breakfast fundraiser at the American Legion. 2.The classic car show takes place all day in the Northborough Shopping Plaza. 3.The Historical Society is open, taking part in Applefest with a variety of showcases and offerings. 4.The annual parade winds down Main Street, led by Grand Marshal Martha Michalawich, starting at noon. 5.The American Legion hosts its annual chicken barbecue, starting at 4 p.m. For a complete schedule of events, visit the Applefest website.

Where did they find the money to poison the school grounds with the resulting heavy metals by products of the fireworks displays. As spectators are observing the displays in awe they will be inhaling some of these (by products). Should our Board of Health representative be involved.   more ›
