Marlborough — Elizabeth (DiRado) Cutone, 92, of Marlborough died Wednesday, Jan. 2, 2013 at Marlborough Hospital. She had been a member of the former St. Ann's Parish, Marlborough,the Marlborough Women's Club and for the past 41 years the Colonial Garden Club of Marlborough. Marlborough — Sister Estelle Airoldi, a Sister of St. Anne, known in religion as Sister M. Therese-Estelle, died at the age of 84 at Marie Esther Health Center on Saturday, January 5, 2013. She was in her 65th year as a Sister of St. Anne. She served in Marlborough, until her death, as the Assistant Province Treasurer for the Sisters of St. Anne (USA). Marlborough — Mathew M. Merrill, 22, of Marlborough died Sunday, Dec. 30 at UMass Medical Center in Worcester after a long illness. Merrill was a graduate of Assabet Valley Regional Technical High School, Class of 2009. He enjoyed working on cars, music and basketball, as well as drawing and painting. Westborough — Collette B. Gmitter, 92, of Westborough, died peacefully on Friday, Dec. 28 at the Notre Dame Long Term Care Center in Worcester surrounded by her loving family. She was the wife of the late Dr. George T. Gmitter. Gmitter began her career as a microbiology lab researcher and was later appointed Section Head of Microbiological Control at Armour Laboratories in Chicago during the 1940’s and early 1950’s, something extremely rare …

Northborough — Hsieh, Chih-Shang of Northborough died on Wednesday, Dec. 26, at the age of 79 surrounded by his loving family. Born in Shanghai, China, he worked as a civil engineer at the Taiwan Directorate General of Highways for more than 40 years. His most significant contributions included the construction of the new Chung-Hsing Bridge, the MacArthur Thruway construction, the West Coast Expressway planning, design and execution and Taiwan’s 10-year Highways Improvement Plan. Marlborough — Geane Marchioro died on Dec. 14 at 30 years old. Northborough — Marcella A. Shepherd, 78, was born in Worcester and a longtime resident of Carlisle. Recently, she resided in Northborough, where she died Dec. 22 from complications of Alzheimer’s Disease. She was a graduate of Westborough High School in 1952 and Saint Vincent’s School of Nursing 1955. She was a retiree from Middlesex School of Concord, Director of Nursing Services. Shrewsbury — Matthew George Hopewell, 92, died peacefully in his home on Dec. 23, surrounded by his family.
