B&E on East Main; Dispute Between Student and Faculty; Stolen Credit Card

Several Break-Ins, Thieves Target Medical Businesses

Police are asking for the public's help.

On Wednesday, March 13, thieves broke into three businesses at 1 East Main St. The buildig contains a dentist office, a doctor's office and other medical-related businesses, said police. The suspect, who forced his or her way into the offices, took cash and prescription pads, which police say are "not an uncommon item to be taken." Victims are compiling a complete list of stolen items.  Soon after these breaks were reported, Northborough police were called to 10 Main St. to New England Acupuncture, which also reported a breaking and entering. The suspect forced entry and pried open cash registers. It is still unclear what is missing from the business at this time, said police.  "We believe the breaks at 1 East Main Street and 10 Main …

Two Reported Stabbed at Motel 6

No arrests have been made.

A reported stabbing at the Motel 6 on Belmont Street overnight sent two people to the hospital, Northborough Police say. No arrests have been made in the 12:21 a.m. incident, which is under investigation, police said in a press release today. The two victims are in stable condition at the hospital, police said. A Westborough Fire Department ambulance took them to the UMass Memorial Medical Center in Worcester, according to that department.

House Breaks Continue: Residence on Howard Street Latest Victim

Another house break on Howard Street makes eight for the town in the past week.

On Wednesday evening, Northborough police responded to a residence on Howard Street that had been burglarized at some point during the day. The homeowner, who had been gone from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. that day, returned home to find that his house had been broken into, the suspect gaining entry by breaking a second floor window. Mostly electronic items were stolen.  "Obviously in light of all the recent breaks we feel that it is possible that the person who broke into this house may be responsible for the other breaks that we have had," said Sgt. Section of Railroad Track Stolen Using Stolen Backhoe

It's the first theft of this type Northborough police have seen.

Det. Brian Griffin of the Northborough Police Department says it's the first he's heard of this type of metal theft. On Sunday, April 15, detectives were called to investigate 444 Whitney St., where approximately 100 feet of a section of railroad track that runs through the property had been cut. A backhoe that sat on the property was was used by the suspects to help pull up the track. "The owner of the backhoe went to retrieve it, and discovered it missing," said Griffin. "He later discovered it on the track." The incident, detectives determined, happend late Saturday night or early Sunday morning. The track is not in use, and has not been used in years, said Griffin.
