Northborough police issued a student a $100 civil ticket.
A student was slapped with a $100 civil ticket by Northborough police after smoking marijuana on the bus on the way to school last week, said police. The 14-year-old boy was contfronted by school administrators and surrendered a wooden marijuana vaporizer that contained a small amount of the drug in it, said police. "It is a small wooden box with a bowl for the marijuana and a small heating element that heats the marijuana with little or no smoke," explained Lt. Bill Lyver.

The Justice Police Institute recently issued a report that school arrests are on the rise, and for seemingly routine offenses.
According to a report by the Justice Police Institute, in-school police are arresting students at an "alarming rate." "Kids are being arrested in schools for everything from playground skirmishes to talking back to teachers," said the report. Our police department is doing a fine job with traffic control, even being short handed. An area we have a strong interest in is Davis Street, between Route 135 and Route 20. Their have been far to many speedsters enjoying the long straightaway race track. Our police departments activities along this route has controlled the flow. It maybe necessary to reduce the posted speeds. more ›
