In response to some strong words by the Marlborough mayor at a city council meeting, Northborough Town Administrator John Coderre issues a letter.
In response to statements made at a recent Marlborough city council meeting, Northborough Town Administrator John Coderre stresses that the town is not late with its $190,000 payment for a sewage bill. Marlborough Mayor Arthur Vigeant and DPW Commissioner Ronald LaFreniere addressed the issue at the meeting, Vigeant stating, “Hopefully we can stir things up and get a check to us." In a letter sent to Vigeant, Coderre indicated it is hardly the case, pointing to an invoice for FY2012 was received on Nov. 15, with a payment due date of Dec. 14. "Where the confusion seems to rest," continues the letter, "is regarding the portion of the invoice that is attributable to a user/conveyance fee that the city began assessing the town in FY2010." …

If sewer bills continue unpaid officials say water and sewer to Algonquin Regional Vocational Technical High School could be shut down.
The town of Northborough still owes $190,000 to Marlborough for the treatment of sewage at three sites in Northborough. “Hopefully we can stir things up and get a check to us," said Mayor Arthur Vigeant. Mayor Vigeant and Department of Public Work Commissioner Ronald LaFreniere revealed the amount owed as an update during Monday's City Council Meeting. The town owes money dating back into fiscal year 2012, said Mayor Vigeant. The town of Northborough has been growing, as has its sewage needs, said Mr. LaFreniere as an explanation for the high amount owed the city. “It’s a lot of money and typically it’s not that big a bill," he said explaining the town is billed on a quarterly basis. “They owe us a pretty hefty sum at this point.” The …

Late Monday, Moose Hall in Marlborough was alive with the hustle and bustle of families waiting to greet their “Fresh Air” child(ren). As part of The Fresh Air Fund, 37 youngsters age 6 to 18 traveled from New York to Marlborough to spend a week with local host families, which included a few from Northborough. For many of the families it was a repeat visit. Children with handmade signs waited anxiously for the arrival of the much anticipated buses. “This is our fifth year with Modibo,” said Julie Fay, who waited enthusiastically with her children Gillian, Lincoln and Owen. “He was just nine when we first met and now he is 14, going into high school, and over six feet tall.” There was a sense amongst the crowd that many of the children on …
