He also noted that the Ellsworths have "done a lot for this town." "She is gone now, but I still think of her every time I pass by her house on Church Street," said Amberson. Several years ago flagpoles were installed in memory of David McAfee and Marie's son Neil Ellsworth, both killed in the Vietnam War. Soon after, McAfee's flagpole was lit, but Amberson has always been frustrated that the Ellsworth memorial (at the corner of Church and …

Here's a Patch-style package running down what you most likely missed at the Board of Selectmen meeting on Monday night.
You probably don't have time to get out to the bi-monthly Board of Selectmen meeting. No bother. Patch does it for you. Here's an easy to swallow breakdown of what went down at the June 27 meeting. The Boroughs Buried: The board unanimously squashed Gina Marie Eilert's plans for a part time bar in town when it denied an alcohol license. While I would like to thank Charlene for this article, folks should understand that my role was minimal. The real work involved in getting the lights installed was accomplished by several volunteers who stepped forward in order to give back to the community. They donated the hardware and completed the installation. They are adamant about remaining anonymous; otherwise I would publicly thank them…   more ›
