Assabet Receives $33 Million from the State

The technical high school has received $33.1 million from the state and a visit from State Treasurer and MSBA Chairman Steven Grossman.

The Assabet Valley Regional Technical High School has received $33.1 million toward needed repairs and upgrades while officials praised the school. "There is no better institution in our area than this school. The Superintendent and staff use all of their resources well, and there is no limit to what these students can achieve," said State Treasurer and Massachusetts School Building Authority Chairman Steven Grossman before signing a facsimile of the check to the schools last week. The funds represent the state's portion of $62.4 million in repairs and improvements to the school. Grant Supports Economic Growth in Northborough, Surrounding Towns

The CMRPC is working on a grant to support development in Northborough, Shrewsbury, Westborough and Berlin, as part of the 495 MetroWest Development Compact project.

Riding a wave of economic and overall development in Northborough, the town knows that the development is only enhanced when it operates as a cog in a local wheel, rolling forward with surrounding towns. The Central Massachusetts Regional Planning Commission (CMRPC) is applying for the 2012 Community Innovation Challenge Grant, which seeks funds for "implemenation activities." As part of the 495 MetroWest Development Compact project, which assists communities with the resource-intensive aspect of implementation of a regional initiative, the CMRPC will use funds from the grant to work with Northborough, Shrewsbury, Westborough and Berlin. Why waste Taxpayers' monies to study 100-times-over new growth? We all know that for all the New Tax Growth the Town achieved, all of the new tax monies collected went into Town Hall spending AND NONE went to REDUCE Residential Property Taxes. How fiscally reckless can the Town Administrator and the Planning function be in Town?   more ›
