Harlem Globetrotters Bus Accident on 290

A bus containing the fun-time basketball team was involved in a MVA this morning.

En route to another game in Bangor, ME, a bus containing members of the Harlem Globetrotters was reportedly involved in an accident on 290 this morning. According to reports, the accident occurred near exit 25. A spokesperson for Massachusetts State Police confirmed that the "minor crash" happened at 8:23 a.m. near Exit 25 in Northborough, as the basketball team was heading eastbound in the tour bus. "I know there was another vehicle involved, but there were no injuries, and they were on their way after that," said the MSP spokesperson. The road was cleared by 8:45 a.m.

Northborough Man Struck on 290 Expected to Survive

A man hit on Monday morning by a tractor trailer on I-290 is expected to survive.

A man struck by a tractor trailer Monday morning on I-290 in Northborough, near the Marlborough line, is expected to survive, according to Massachusetts State Police. At 9:05 a.m., troopers from the state police barracks in Holden responded to several 911 calls for a pedestrian who was struck by a tractor trailer on Route 290 westbound in Northborough. A 42-year-old man from Northborough had pulled his 2000 Honda Civic over into the breakdown lane. The male, for reasons yet to be determined, walked out into the travel lane and was subsequently struck by a tractor trailer unit, said police. The man was transported to UMass Medical Center where he is being treated for his injuries and is expected to survive. The cause of the crash, as well …

10:20 a.m. Massachusetts State Police, responding to the crash westbound on I-290 in Northborough (near the Marlborough line) said it has limited information at this time and no information on the condition of the pedestrian or the truck driver. The right and middle lanes are currently closed and expected to be for some time. Seek an alternate route if possible. 9:30 a.m.: A pedestrian was struck on I-290 west at the Marlborough line, according to a breaking news alert received by Patch. Route 20 Crash Claims Life of 60-Year-Old North Grafton Woman

Another person has died after injuries sustained in a crash on Saturday night.

A North Grafton woman is dead after a crash on Route 20 Saturday evening. On Dec. 8th at approximately 8:30 pm the Shrewsbury Police responded to the intersection of Route 20 and Grafton St. for a report of a two car motor vehicle accident with injuries. Shrewsbury Police determined that a 2004 Audi A-4 was traveling East on Route 20 when it collided with a 2007 Honda Civic which was traveling north on Grafton St. crossing Route 20. Steven Cabral of Hudson, 25 years old, operated the Audi. The Honda was operated by Elaine Barber, 60, Snow Road, North Grafton. Shrewsbury Police, Shrewsbury Fire and U-Mass paramedics were at the scene and both operators were transported U-Mass University Campus Hospital. Barber was pronounced dead a short …

Police Name Victims in Route 9 Pedestrian Crash

Two from Rhode Island were injured in a crash that occurred on Route 9 on Wednesday evening.

An argument that started at Motel 6 and made its way across to the median of Route 9 ended in a crash that seriously injured two on Wednesday night. Two Pedestrians Hit on Route 9

A couple's argument spills into the middle of Route 9, resulting in a crash.

A man and woman were hit by a car going westbound on Route 9 in Northborough while crossing the street on Route 9. According to police, the crash was the result of an accident that spilled out from Motel 6 onto Route 9 across from the Celtic Tavern. Both victims, who sustained injuries, are from Providence, RI. Witnesses say the argument started in the parking lot of Motel 6. The woman walked across the divided, two-lane highway, sitting on the Jersey barrier when the male came out to talk with her. "Apparently, the man convinced her to go back," said Chief Mark Leahy, "and when she started to come back she was hit in the middle of the lanes by an oncoming car." UPDATE: Traffic Detoured to Marlborough After Truck Crash on 290

A tractor trailer rollover on the 290 east ramp to 495 northbound has police diverting traffic on to Route 20 in Marlborough.

UPDATE, 11:30 a.m.: The ramp from Route 290 eastbound to 495 northbound remains closed after the Thursday morning tractor-trailer rollover. The crash, reported earlier as being in Northborough, was actually in Marlborough, said police. The driver was extricated by firefighters but was not injured, said a release. The trailer was hauling food, which has been condemned by the local board of health. The ramp is expected to be closed until approximately 1 p.m. as cleanup and the investigation continue.
