5 Things: Bye Bye Birdie Opens Tonight

Thursday, and there's a lot going on in town.

IMAGES: Dramahawks Present 'Bye Bye Birdie'

The Dramahawks present this classic musical comedy.

The musical that was originally inspired by Elvis Presley's draft notice comes to Algonquin Regional High School this weekend. With music written by composer Charles Strouse, Bye Bye Birdie, according to The Broadway Musical Home, is the story of Conrad Birdie's draft to the army. "As a farewell, the rock and roll star is scheduled to sing Albert Peterson's 'One Last Kiss' and kiss a girl from Sweet Apple, Ohio live on the Ed Sullivan Show. However, Conrad's hip-thrusting makes more than one man in town uncomfortable, many of whom attempt to stop the show from happening. Meanwhile, Rosie wonders if Alfred, for whom she does everything, will ever leave his mother's shadow." Brittany Price is one of the Dramahawks, playing Rose Alvarez, …
