I am writing to you with concern of an oversized project located at 130 Main St, Northborough. Residents continue to raise concerns such as: have the parking requirements been met? Is there 20 percent open space? Where will kids play who live at the 12 apartments in the soon to be cut-through parking lot? The fire chief said it would be good to have an egress onto Brigham Street. The abutters have requested no egress on to Brigham Street, as in the case of Route 20 and Hemlock Drive. Hemlock is a road that is wide, not heavily traveled, and has side walks. Choine said she is not the only resident opposed to the building. In fact, Selectman Aaron Hutchins commented that he had received calls regarding the plans. "I am more opposed to the roadway onto Brigham …

If you've driven down Main Street, surely you've noticed the major construction happening on the corner of West and Main, adjacent to the plaza that is home to Rocky's Ace Hardware, Brown's TV and Appliance, Tilz and Nicky D's Donuts. The Zoning Board of Appeals gave the OK to applicant Chuck Black of Kendall Homes for four parcels—269-273 Main St. One property was demolished, and another single home will be leveled to make make way for four mixed use commercial and residential buildings. On July 26, the ZBA voted to grant a special permit, groundwater protection overlay district to "allow a horizonal mixed-use development including four buildings, each with business use on the first floor and two, two-bedroom residential dwelling units on…
The cost of building has gone up, but the number hasn't.
According to city-data.com, here are the number of buildings constructed each year from1996 to 2010, along with the average cost of those buildings. Did you build a home in Northborough? If so, were you happy with the price, and the timing?

Already a park close by, Why not put some retail space with apartments over it. That site would be the perfect alternative location for the "highly objected"130 Main St project. This area is already a true mixed use area of town, a 24hr convenience store would be great there...   more ›
