Brown's TV Closing After 53 Years

A longtime Northborough family business closes its doors.

Many still aren't over the closing of O'Driscoll's or O'Brien's 5 & 10. Now Northborough will mourn the loss of another family destination; Dave Brown, owner of Brown's TV and Appliance, announced that the store will be going out of business "around Feb. 1." Brown's TV has been in Northborough for 53 years. The store has struggled to stay afloat in not only a poor economy, but after closing down in 2008 when arsonists destroyed a section of the strip mall on Main Street where it is located. Brown's dad and brother started the business in 1960, originally a storefront above Sawyer's Bowladrome on Blake Street. Brown took over as owner in the mid '80s. How sad, I bought my microwave and refridgerator at Browns. I got a better price than elsewhere and of course, much better personal service. Our family is sorry to see you go!   more ›
