With a long history of political service, Maselli throws her hat in the ring for Northborough Board of Selectmen. Oh, and she designed a board game.
Lisa Maselli is no stranger to serving on boards. Now, she wants to win a seat on the Northborough Board of Selectmen. A native of Southborough, Lisa Maselli graduated from Algonquin Regional High School and has owned property in Southborough, Westborough, Northborough ... and even Chandler, AZ. She moved to Northborough in the late '90s to be close to her father's home, and to care for him in his later years. She is the CEO of Design Integrity, which is known for inventing the New England Weather Coin, and she's also the owner and operator of Marlana Studios. And her history politically speaking is quite long, as well. "My first board service started in the mid 1980s when my daughter was attending Mary Finn School K-3," she said, "and I …

It was requested that four streets exclude commercial trucks in town, but only Collins was granted the OK.
Last November, Town Engineer Fred Litchfield submitted a proposal to the Massachusetts Department of Transportation to request that Ridge Road, Collins Road, Maple and Brigham Streets exclude commercial trucks. Collins Road easily met the criteria required by Mass DOT to grant the exclusion, and it ultimately is the only street that will exclude trucks. Though disappointed, Litchfield requested that the Board of Selectmen approve the movement to proceed with Mass DOT's recommendation of a Collins Road exclusion only. "We were hoping for a common sense approach that they would allow for truck exclusion on all four streets, and they did not," said Litchfield. Ten warning signs that read "Commercial Vehicles Over 2.5 Tons Excluded From …

For the second year in a row, the town of Northborough earned the Distinguished Budget Award.
Just because you win the Distinguished Budget Award one year, it doesn't mean you can sit on your laurels, fill in the dots and easily nab it the next, explained Town Administrator John Coderre. For the second consecutive year, Northborough won the Government Finance Officers Association of the United States' Distinguished Budget Presentation Award for its FY2012 budget. "The award represents a significant achievement by the town," said the GFOA's release. "It reflects the commitment of the governing body and staff to meeting the highest principles of governmental budgeting." In order to achieve the award, Northborough had to satisfy a rigid list of nationally recognized guidelines. "It's the highest award you can receive in public …

The Board of Selectmen met Monday night and discussed a Wegman's entertainment license as well as an amendment to JJ's license.
You didn't miss a heck of a lot this week, but the board did cover a bit of ground. In a fairly short meeting of the Board of Selectmen meeting on Monday night, Wegman's got a license to have entertainment and grant money was approved for childhood obesity. Even music at Wegman's: Some of the stores are already open at the Northborough Shops, but probably none has garnered the excitement that the coming of Wegman's has. It's set to open in October, and folks are frenzied about it. Well, Wegman's now has the OK to have live entertainment, inside and outside the establishment, approved by the board. Wegman's will have occasionally showcase live solo and duo acts. No man at the door: JJ's Sports Bar and Grille no longer needs a doorman at the…
