William J. Pantazis, who is in his fourth term on the Northborough Board of Selectmen and is now the chairman, has filed for bankruptcy, reported the Worcester Telegram and Gazette. The Chapter 7 filing lists $825,905 in debt and nearly $17,000 in back income taxes. A debt of $215,000 that Pantazis owes after a Worcester Superior Court judgment is included in the filing. The money, according to the Telegram, is owed to his mother Nancy Pantazis and sister Anne Fidrych, who is the widow of major leaguer Mark Fidrych.
Pantazis joins Jeff Amberson as two incumbents running for re-election to the Northborough Board of Selectmen.
Born and raised in Northborough, William "Bill" Pantazis has served three terms on the Northborough Board of Selectmen, and would love to go for another term. Married with six children, he is the owner/operator of Diamondscape Landscaping Company as well as a Merry Maids franchse. Pantazis also used to coach Star Hawk Youth Hockey, was a member of the Northborough Baseball Association, a 32nd degree Mason and a member of the Shriners, United Brethren Lodge of Massachusetts and Valley of Boston Scottish Rite. The Selectmen, the Administrator, the Appropriations and Finance Committees and the School Committees are using new growth revenue plus added taxes as their windfall to fund many, easy to work with, fat budgets.
