Scouts Collect Items to Add to Alice's Tree

Boy Scout Troop 1 collected more than $400 for Alice's Tree.

Northborough Boy Scouts Troop 1 collected more than $400 in personal care items for Alice's Tree in conjunction with the Northborough Food Pantry. Started by Alice Stapelfeld of Northborough, Alice's Tree began when Stapelfeld donated a tree to the troops for raking leaves at her house. Now, it has grown into Alice's Tree Project, which collects items such as toothpaste, soaps, shopping bags, hair supplies, tissues, deodorants and more for needy families.  Led by scout Harry Silverstein, this is the third year Troop 1 has collected items for Alice's Tree, collecting food in 2009 and winter clothing in 2010. The items were sent to "families in transition" staying at the EconoLodge in Northborough.
