Holiday Enchantment Supports Scholarships, Beautification

The Northborough Garden Club's annual program is at noon Saturday at the Peaslee Elementary School.

A holiday floral demonstration Saturday will help support scholarships for Northborough residents.

The Northborough Garden Club's annual Holiday Enchantment is at noon Saturday at the Peaslee Elementary School, 31 Maple St.

Admission is 10. Advance tickets are $8, and are available by calling 508-393-8464 or e-mailing northboroughgardenclub@yahoo.com.

The event is among two Northborough Garden Club annual fundraisers for the group's scholarship program, and beautification efforts, Co-President Francesca Bombara said.

Bill Graham, owner of the Beautiful Things shop in Salem, will be the featured presenter.

"Bill has been doing this program for us since 1999. He is definitely a crowd pleaser, which is why we keep having him back," Bombara said during an e-mail interview.

"The event is attended by garden club members and local residents, many of whom come back year after year."

Graham will do a holiday floral demonstration that includes "the 'Little Black Dress,' which features some of the jewelry and scarves sold in his shop," Bombara said.

"These are placed on a black dress on a mannequin, and compliment each floral arrangement," she said.

The event also will feature "a light lunch, raffles, door prizes, (and) a greens table, which features fresh greens bundles and greens baskets for sale," Bombara said.

"Everyone who attends goes away feeling happy," she said.

"They’ve had a nice lunch prepared by our members, they might have won a raffle or two, and some of them go home with one of Bill’s arrangements.  In general, it’s a very pleasant afternoon."
