Monday Essentials: Otis Street Construction; Fun Days for Kids

Here's a look ahead.

1. Construction and resurfacing of Otis Street began last week, starting with improvements to the drainage system. Starting on Monday, Aug. 19, Callahan Construction continues by adjusting the finishing grade of castings and milling the roadway to apply new pavement. The project should be completed next week. Detail officers will be at the scene directing traffic.

2. All week, Northborough Recreation offers "Fun Days" for kids at the Town Hall.

4. Looking ahead: There is a public hearing on the proposed sewer and water rate adjustment on Tuesday, Aug. 27, at 6:30 p.m., in the Selectman's Meeting Room at the Town Hall. Sewer rates are expected to go up "at least 20 percent."

5. School is approaching, and quickly. There is an informative and thorough message from the superintendent, as well as the principals of all Northborough public schools, on the school district's website. Parents and students should take the time to read it.
