Monday Essentials: Northborough Zip Trip; Board Discusses License for Reliance

Here's a look ahead to your week starting on Monday, Aug. 12.

1. The Board of Selectmen have a busy agenda on Monday, Aug. 12, that includes a public hearing to consider the non-use of a wine and malt package store license for Reliance Beer and Wine, a hearing for Cumblerland Farms to store 32,000 gallons of gas and 8,000 gallons of diesel on the premises, and a presentation by Town Planner Kathy Joubert to open the aqueduct to the public. The meeting is open to the public, and the agenda can be found here.

2. Help the Northborough library celebrate the end of Summer Reading with some pizza and trivia. Compete in a group or on your own. This event is open to all teens who will be entering grade 6 and up in the fall. Registration is required and began Aug. 1.

3. Did you get your mug on the Zip Trip Fox 25 stop last week in Northborough? It was rainy, but it didn't stop hundreds from coming to Ellsworth McAfee Park. Share your comments and pictures here.

4. Looking ahead: There is a public hearing on the proposed sewer and water rate adjustment on Tuesday, Aug. 27, at 6:30 p.m., in the Selectman's Meeting Room at the Town Hall. Sewer rates are expected to go up "at least 20 percent."

5. School is approaching, and quickly. There is an informative and thorough message from the superintendent, as well as the principals of all Northborough public schools, on the school district's website. Parents and students should take the time to read it.
