Algonquin Regional High School's winter sports teams are preparing to open their seasons, some this week.
Here are the dates of the varsity season openers, and the home openers for those Tomahawks teams starting on the road, courtesy of www.mwlma.org.
- Girls basketball: 7 p.m. Friday, vs. Marlborough.
- Boys basketball: 7 p.m. Friday, at Marlborough (home opener is 7 p.m. Friday, Dec. 27, vs. Hudson).
- Swimming: 4 p.m. Thursday, vs. Gardner, at Clark University. (home opener is 4 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 19, vs. Nashoba, at Clark).
- Indoor track: 9 a.m. Saturday, at Wachusett, in the Wallace Invitational (All indoor track meets are away).
- Wrestling: 10 a.m. Saturday at West Springfield (home opener is at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 18, vs. Tyngsborough).
- Girls ice hockey: 5 p.m. Saturday, vs. Cathedral, at the New England Sports Center.
- Boys ice hockey: 8:30 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 18, vs. Marlborough, at NorthStar Ice Sports.
- Gymnastics: 10 a.m. Monday, Dec. 23, vs. Wachusett, at Giguere Gymnastics (home opener is at 11 a.m. Friday, Dec. 27, vs. Marlborough).
