School Staff Get ID Badges

All staff also recently attended two school safety training sessions taught by Northborough and Southborough Police.

Northborough-Southborough school employees are wearing photo identification badges, among the latest school security enhancements, Assistant Superintendent of Schools Christine Johnson told the Northborough School Committee on Tuesday night.

The badges must be "visible at all times during the school day, while on campus and during school sponsored field trips," according to a form that employees signed when getting their badges. Johnson included that form in her report to the board.

All staff also recently attended two school safety training sessions taught by Northborough and Southborough Police, Johnson wrote. The administrative team had five additional hours of training.

"Our strategic plan states that (the) District seeks to provide opportunities for students to engage in critical thinking and problem solving within a safe environment," Johnson wrote in her report.

"The safety procedures not only represent best-practice but also embrace our District's vision and mission."

A public forum on this topic will be held at 7 p.m. Sept. 23 at Algonquin Regional High School, Johnson wrote.

Lt. Scott Sencabaugh of the North Eastern Massachusetts Law Enforcement Council will be the guest speaker, joined by local law enforcement and school representatives, she wrote.
