Nine School Projects Get C9 Mini-Grants

The chamber of commerce awarded 19 mini-grants totaling $6,449.92.

Nine projects in Northborough schools are among 19 Corridor Nine Chamber of Commerce mini-grant recipients, all area Kindergarten to grade 12 educators.

Marisa Marzilli and Amanda Sharpe at the Proctor School received a mini-grant for "Let the Fun Begin" said chamber officials said Friday in a press release.

Dominique LePaul, from the Melican School, also received a grant for "Copying the Masters!" and Gretchen Bean and Jennifer Callaghan, also teachers at Melican, received one for "Journey to Jo'Burg—A Struggle for Freedom and Dignity." 

Lincoln Street School teacher Patricia Rollins received a mini-grant for "The Quest for Knowledge and Wellness: Geocoaching" and Lori Miller, Proctor School, got funding for "Score! Kick-Off With Storytelling."

Kim Spiliakos and Carolyn Swenson's "Getting in the Zone: Self-Regulation & Emotional Control for a Productive School Day" received funding at the Zeh School.

Mary Anne Jezierski, was awarded a grant for "Caching In on History." Also from the St. Bernadette School, Teresa Dillenkoffer received a grant for "Let Your Voice Be Seen."

Corridor Nine also granted funds to Christine Hall and Maria Mihalek, Proctor School, for "Mosaic Memories: Reflections of our School Days."

And Christine Lincoln and Nancy Pojani received a grant for "Enriching the Mathematics Curriculum" at the Melican School.

The chamber's mini-grants totaled $6,449.92.

The program supports developing "innovative teaching ideas and increase student motivation and enthusiasm by providing funds for instructional experimentation and enrichment activities," chamber officials said.

The latest mini-grants were presented at the chamber's Nov. 27 membership breakfast.
