The Yorktown, Lakeland and Somers schools are operating on an early dismissal schedule for Mon. Jan. 28.

Yorktown schools will be dismissing the high school at 9:45 a.m., the middle school at 10:30 a.m., Crompond School at 11:15 a.m. Mohansic and Brookside elementary schools will dismiss early at 12 p.m.

Lakeland schools will dismiss its two high schools at 10:15 a.m.; elementary schools at 11 a.m. and the middle school at 12 p.m. Out of district placements will dismiss at 11 a.m. All after school and evening activites are cancelled.

The snow will begin late morning, according to the NWS, mixing with sleet by the afternoon and changing to freezing rain and drizzle by the evening. The ice accumulation on the road could make for slippery driving conditions.

Temperatures are expected to hover around 30 degrees today and below freezing tonight. The ice could stick around until Tuesday morning, when the air should warm into the mid 40s.
