Assabet Valley Student Remembered This Week

Pablo Salcedo of Westborough would have been 19 on Thursday.

A teen that died in a car accident on Route 9 last month will be honored with events this week, including a special event on the day he would have turned 19.

Pablo Salcedo of Westborough, who attended Assabet Valley Regional Technical High School in Marlborough, will posthumously be inducted into the National Honor Society on Feb. 6. The date would have been his 19th birthday.

"The school is trying to help both our students and his family through this terrible time," said Cindy Zomar, the Public Relations Coordinator for the school.

The induction will take place in the main cafeteria starting at 6:30 p.m. and will feature speakers who are close to the family, according to Zomar. The event is expected to last about an hour.

Salcedo was killed in an early morning accident on Route 9 in Westborough on Jan. 5. Police determined after an investigation that he was distracted by texting and driving. Salcedo was in his senior year at the school, was captain of the soccer team, and also played football and volleyball.
