Are You Happy with Where Our Schools are Headed?

The Marlborough School Committee met last night and Superintendent Pope presented a $50 million budget for 2012. Along with the public schools, Marlborough youth have several other options as well including the Advanced Math and Science Academy and Assabe

Are you happy with where the schools are headed, and what do you see as the best programs/options for Marlborough's young people?

The public schools are developing a curriculum and grade reorganization, and have just presented the 2012 budget. Do you have questions for the administration? Or maybe you just want to sound off about what you love about your kids' school.

So grab a cup of coffee and settle in as we start the conversation.

There are math placement tests for MPS too. If you come into MPS from another School System you need to take placement tests from what I understand. As I recall there is even an internal placement mechanism as well, I recall my oldest being moved to another math class for this reason. I am trying to squash this persistent rumor that AMSA has admission requirements. Assabet does in fact have admission requirements, if you do not pass the tests, you do not get in. AMSA has no such mechanism. There are currently admission constraints due to where to put new students. There are presently two school buildings, and a third seems like it will be needed.

Thanks for informing us, Damon. AMSA seems like a great option for students as a public charter school.

Saying AMSA is a public school with no admission requirements is laughable ... if you are not in by the first year, AMSA tells you that your child would be "overwhelmed" by the workload ...

Love to hear from someone with kids at Marlborough High or other high schools.

Who told you that? That's completely false. Quite frankly, I don't believe anonymous people. There is no admission requirement. The workload is manageable.
