ZBA Meeting Postponed

The hearing on the revised cease and desist order for SA Farms has been postponed.

If you were looking for the to make a decision on the cease and desist order issued to SA Farm located at 429 Whitney Street today, you will have to wait a bit longer.

The farm had been issued a cease and desist order by the town, but Owner Santo Anza is appealing the order. This cease and desist order insisted that owner Santo Anza Jr. "stop the use of an unlicensed compot or solid waste facility" and also prohibited any further importation of food and paper waste to the property.

There was an 8 a.m. meeting scheduled for yesterday to hear Anza's appeal, but the meeting was postponed.

"The meeting was postponed," Town Clerk Andrew Dowd said. "The town is waiting for some more information from the Department of Environmental Protection."

Neighbors argue that the noise levels are unacceptable, and, more importantly, claim that Anza is using the property as a landfill but masquerading as a potential farm, which affords him exemptions from certain town bylaws.
