Town Meeting Warrant Closes: 2 Citizen's Petitions

The citizen's petition filed on Monday seeks to "remove the ability of the zoning board of appeals to issue use variances," Town Administrator John Coderre told selectmen Monday night.

A citizen's petition filed on Monday means Northborough voters face just two decisions at the Oct. 28 special town meeting.

The petition seeks to "remove the ability of the zoning board of appeals to issue use variances," Town Administrator John Coderre told selectmen Monday night.

The petition was filed with and certified by Town Clerk Andrew Dowd, Coderre said.

Selectmen voted Monday night to close the warrant, which will have two articles on it.

A citizen's petition filed with Dowd in mid-September seeks a moratorium on approving on-site solar photovoltaic systems and ground mounted solar photovoltaic systems -- solar farms -- until May 1, 2014.

Northborough lacks zoning restrictions on solar farms, the petition states.
A proposed zoning bylaw amendment is attached to the petition.

Coderre said the planning board will hold a public hearing on the warrant articles on Oct. 23.

The special town meeting is at 7:30 p.m. Oct. 28 at Algonquin Regional High School.
