Route 20 Detour This Weekend

The reconstruction project on Route 20 will close the center this weekend.

As part of the Route 20 reconstruction project through the center of Northborough, CSX Railroad will replace their Main Street (Route 20) rail crossing this weekend.

Beginning at 6 a.m. on Saturday, Dec. 1, and continuing nonstop until the work is completed on Sunday evening, Dec. 2, Main Street (Route 20) will be detoured around the work site. Police officers will be stationed to assist motorists throughout the project.

The primary Main Street (Route 20) detour for cars and small trucks will use South and Summer Streets to bypass the work site. Main Street (Route 20) will be closed on the west end of the job at the intersection of Main And South Streets (Route 20 at Route 135).

On the east side of the job, Main Street (Route 20) will be closed at Patty Lane. Access will be available for Patty Lane and Hudson Street. Traffic on Hudson Street travelling towards the center of town from Interstate 290 will be detoured down River Street to Route 20, where they can access the Summer Street detour route.

Thru truck traffic from either direction on Route 20 will use a posted detour route consisting of Summer Street, South Street, Northgate Road and Davis Street to bypass the work site.

Please make every effort to avoid this area, as congestion is expected. If you must visit this area, please allow extra time and drive with caution.
