Information submitted by Kim Shepherd and Mike Long of the Northborough Republican Committee
The Massachusetts GOP will be electing a new chair Thursday, January 31. This election is an important one for liberty minded people. The leadership of the MassGOP has a large influence on the direction of the State Republican Party and outcome of elections. The exciting news is that the liberty minded activists in Massachusetts have grown in strength and influence. We now have a chance of electing a new leader who believes that we must build the MassGOP from the ground up. This is a public meeting and your support and attendance is requested.
The meeting takes place on Thursday, Jan. 31, at 7 p.m. at the Verse Crowne Plaza in Natick.
The Northborough Republican Town Committee unanimously voted to endorse Rick Green for MassGOP Chair.
"We believe he will help bring about the bold change to the State Republican Party. He will put the focus on helping the individual towns build their base and give their members the training they need to influence elections. Having a strong network of energized and trained activists will allow liberty minded candidates to gain the support they need to win elections."
Northborough has four State Committee Representatives voting in this election. As of this writing two of them, Bonnie Johnson and Bill McCarthy, have publicly endorsed Rick Green. It is our hope that come Thursday Jeanne Kangas and Brian Burke, our other two representatives, will also put their support behind Rick Green.
The liberty minded activists in this state are becoming smarter and stronger each election cycle. We need leadership to help us grow our fledgling local committees into strong organizations that are equipped to help our candidates win elections. While fundraising is important, it is not nearly as important as building strong coalitions of like minded individuals and organizations who are able to turn out the vote on election day. This past election is proof that it takes much more than just money to win election.
We strongly believe that the time has come for a leader with proven organization skills, a leader who is interested in listening to activists in our Party and a leader who is committed to bringing about the kind of change that is worthy of our volunteers, donors & candidate recruits. That leader is Rick Green; it is not Kirsten Hughes.
Kim and I will be attending this meeting to let our representatives know that we are not satisfied with business as usual. It is time to put and end to insider politics and put the focus on individual liberty.
