Planning Board Backs 1 of 2 Town Meeting Requests

The special town meeting is at 7:30 p.m. Monday at Algonquin Regional High School.

The Northborough Planning Board unanimously is supporting a proposed temporary moratorium on large scale solar farms, on Monday night's special town meeting warrant.

And, by a 3-2 vote, the board will recommend that voters defeat a proposal to prohibit use variances by the zoning board of appeals.

The board held a public hearing Wednesday night on both proposals, which were placed on the warrant by citizen's petitions.

Resident Gregory Roody led the discussion of the solar farm-related moratorium, which would expire May 1, 2014. Resident Lisa Maselli led the discussion of the use variance article.

Planning board members Theresa Capobianco and Michelle Gillespie voted to support the use variance article. Chairman Rick Leif and members Leslie Harrison and George Pember voted against supporting it.

The special town meeting is at 7:30 p.m. Monday at Algonquin Regional High School. The warrant is posted here.

Northborough Patch will have more on Wednesday night's discussion Friday.
