Northborough Formalizes Veterans District

Northborough's Board of Selectmen voted unanimously to formalized its union with Shrewsbury, Grafton and Westborough to form a regional Veterans District. The district officially went into effect on July 1. 

Longtime Westborough agent George Perry will lead the district; Richard Perron, Northborough's former agent, recently died. 

With coordination efforts led by Assistant Town Manager Kim Hood-Foster, she initiated combining resources because if Northborough did not join the district, it would have to employ a full time agent. With a caseload of approximately 36, it simply didn't make sense, she said.  

The regional proposal employs one full-time director to handle all four towns, as well as two part time agents, which would schedule office hours across the towns.
