NCAT Could Add 3 Live Broadcast Sites Soon

The Algonquin Regional High School football field press box, the Northborough Free Library and the Northborough Senior Center are those sites, under a proposed five-year license extension with Charter Communications.

Northborough Cable Access Television could broadcast live from three additional Northborough sites under a proposed five-year license extension with Charter Communications, Cable Access Director Kathy Dalgliesh said Monday night.

The Algonquin Regional High School football field press box, the Northborough Free Library and the Northborough Senior Center are those sites, Dalgliesh told selectmen.

The sites are among the "key amendments" in the proposed extension, which selectmen subsquently signed Monday night, she said.

"The library and the senior center are really key places," she said.

"Their rooms are being used more heavily."

Northborough's five-year contract with Charter ended in October, and was extended to Feb. 16, 2014, Dalgliesh explained.

Town officials are proceeding with a five-year amendment, which will end "within a few months" of Verizon's Northborough license, she said.

The proposed extension will be open for public comment for three-weeks in January, Dalgliesh said. Selectmen will finalize their approval at the end of January, and the document will be enacted in February, she said.
