Naughton Votes for Environmental Bond Bill

State Rep. Harold Naughton Jr., D-Clinton, joined his colleagues in the House of Representatives on June 4, to pass the environmental bond bill which provides a total of $1.75 billion to local communities for environmental projects and developments. Additionally, during yesterday’s formal session Representative Naughton also voted to expand access to bow hunting in the Commonwealth. This bill was approved on a voice vote to partially lift the state’s ban on Sunday hunting by allowing the use of bow and arrows during the last three months of year, which is deer hunting season.

“Flowing through Clinton, Boylston, Lancaster and Sterling the Nashua River has always been a defining characteristic of the district both for industrial and recreational purposes,” said Representative Naughton. “I am pleased this bond bill passed the House of Representatives as this funding will provide a number of opportunities to attend to the environmental and recreational needs of the district. Specifically, the $2.5 million in allocated funding will allow for the restoration and expansion of the Nashua River beach area located between the east bank of the Nashua River and Boylston Street in the Town of Clinton. This crucial funding will provide necessary support to rehabilitate and enhance the river way for the benefit of long-term educational and recreational use.”
