Board Approves Money to Cover Snow and Ice Deficit

The board voted to move funds to cover a hefty plowing budget for FY2013.

After a doozy of a snowstorm year, Northborough, as did many towns, were forced to deficit spend to cover the cost of sand, salt and plowing.

With a budget formerly in the red, the Board of Selectmen on Monday approved transferring $107,853 from the town's health insurance account to cover the $258,000 deficit, according to the Telegram and Gazette.

The remainder of the funds would come from the appropriations committee, and the deficit coverage would be taken care of before the end of the fiscal year, which is on June 30. The town approved a snow and ice budget at $199,700 for FY2013.
