Yorktown Woman Faces Felony DWI Charge

Janet Protano, secretary at the supervisor's office, was arrested for drunken driving.

A 53-year-old Yorktown woman is facing a felony drunken driving charge after she was pulled over on Route 6 in Cortlandt on Dec. 28, 2012, New York State troopers said.

Janet Protano was charged with driving while intoxicated and has a prior conviction of drunken driving within the last 10 years, police said.

Her blood alcohol content level was more than 0.18 percent, police said, resulting in an additional felony charge of aggravated driving while intoxicated.

The woman, a secretary at the Yorktown supervisor's office, was pulled over by police for "driving erratically" and not maintaining a proper lane, state police said.

Protano was arrested and scheduled to appear in the Cortlandt Town Court on Jan. 18.

Repeat offenders should have their license taken away permanently. They put all of our lives at risk because they can't be responsible.
