VIDEO: 5 Injured When Hot Air Balloon Hits Power Lines

Victims suffered serious burns.

Five people were injured when a hot air balloon hit power lines in Clinton on Saturday.

The people injured suffered serious burns, according to 7News.

Firefighter Pat Parker told The Clinton Item that the injured people's burns ranged "from minor to serious."

The Federal Aviation Administration told WBZ-TV that it will investigate the crash.

The accident cut power to the area. Six hundred customers lost power, but the majority of the residences were restored quickly, according to WBZ-TV.

USA Today reported that there are hundreds of accidents involving hot air balloons each year. Most are not fatal. In May, there was a hot air balloon accident in Virginia that claimed the lives of three people.
