Police Log: Dog's Head Stuck in Cookie Jar

The following information was provided by the Milford Police Department. Charges do not indicate a conviction.

Monday, Oct. 8

4:21 p.m.: Police responded to Shadowbrook Condominiums, where a caller complained of loud noise at another apartment.

4:51 p.m.: A caller on Janock Road asked to speak to an officer about internet fraud.

5:34 p.m.: An officer on Central Street said a black sports bike, possibly a Kawasaki, had fled from him at the bottom of Central and turned on to Beaver Street. A "be on the lookout" was issued. The operator later entered the police station and spoke to another officer.

7:00 p.m.: A complaint about vandalism was reported on Bowdoin Drive.

8:26 p.m.: A rat terrier on Colonial Road reportedly bit an 8-year-old boy on the lip. The boyfriend of the owner of the dog reported the incident. A message was left for the town's animal control officer.

9:28 p.m.: Following a motor vehicle stop on Bragg Slipp, police arrested Renato D. Morais, 26, of 12 Hollis St., Apt. 2, Milford, on a charge of unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle.

11:56 p.m.: A caller told police a group of kids was lighting fireworks at Milford Town Park.

Tuesday, Oct. 9

10:00 a.m.: A man walked in to police headquarters to report an incident that had happened at his house earlier that morning.

10:51 a.m.: A Chrysler sedan was repossessed on Main Street.

12:01 p.m.: A woman walked in to police headquarters to speak to an officer about an issue with her parents.

12:02 p.m.: A man walked in to police headquarters and said he was receiving texts from a person who was subject to a restraining order. Police are seeking a summons to charge Sudip Sen Gupta, 30, of 17 Shadowbrook Ln., Milford, with violating an abuse prevention order.

12:11 p.m.: A two-car crash was reported near Tedeschi on Main Street. A person complained of hip and neck pain and was taken to Milford Regional Medical Center.

12:42 p.m.: A caller on Interstate 495, near Exit 19, said a large piece of metal had fallen from a Volkswagen Beetle and she ran over it with her vehicle, which was now leaking gasoline. Firefighters responded. The car had the front two tires blown out and was towed.

2:19 p.m.: Lifeline alert reported a dog on Purchase Street had his head "stuck in a cookie jar." The animal control officer was notified. An officer who responded reported back that the dog's head had been removed from the jar.

2:43 p.m.: An employee of ACE Hardware asked to speak to an officer about an item that had been rented, but never returned.
