Northborough PD Assisting Worcester PD With Gun Buyback Program

The Worcester program is on Dec. 14.

Northborough Police are working in conjunction with Westborough and Worcester Police on the Worcester Police Department's gun buyback program on Dec. 14, Westborough Police Chief Alan Gordon says.

Dec. 14 is the anniversary of the Newtown, Conn. tragedy, Gordon told Westborough selectmen Tuesday night.

The social action committee of Congregation B'nai Shalom in Westborough is working with Worcester Police to get gift cards to be distributed at the Worcester facility, Gordon said.

After Dec. 14, Westborough Police will have free gun safety locks available to Westborough residents "so they can secure their weapons safely," he said.

Gordon said he funded the locks with drug forfeiture money.
