Northborough Man Was Hit During Route 495 Crash on Friday

David Ferro's car was one of five vehicles that were hit on Route 495 on Friday by a Maine woman who ultimately died.

The following information was provided in a press release from the Massachusetts State Police.   

On Friday, July 26, at 2:36 p.m. troopers from the Massachusetts State Police Barracks in Newbury responded to a multiple vehicle crash on Interstate 495 Northbound, South of Route 150 in Amesbury.  

On arrival, troopers discovered that a 2007 Pontiac G6 had collided with several vehicles, one of which was driven by David Ferro of Northborough.

When the crash occurred, the Pontiac driven by Patricia Foley, made contact with a total of five vehicles. These vehicles were:

  • a 2007 Jeep Grand Cherokee driven by Barbara Monopoli, 69, of Salisbury
  • a Chrysler operated by Thomas Liesegang, 58, of Brookfield
  • a 2006 Toyota Highlander operated by Kimberly Sanchez, 40, of Newburyport 
  • a 2006 Chevrolet Trailblazer operated by Tiffany Waters, 33, of Epping, NH
  • a 2007 Volkswagen Rabbit operated by David Ferro, 36, of Northborough

No serious injuries were reported for these involved operators.

The operator of the Pontiac, identified as Patricia Foley, 73, of Limerick, Maine, was initially transported to Anna Jacques Hospital in Newburyport.  She was later transported to Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center in Boston, where she later died as a result of the injuries sustained during the crash.

The facts and circumstances of the crash are currently under investigation by troopers from the State Police Barracks in Newbury.  Assistance at the scene was provided by troopers assigned to the Collision Analysis Reconstruction Section, Crime Scene Services Section, Amesbury Fire Department, and the Massachusetts Department of Transportation.
