A Northborough man allegedly demanded gas money from his ex-girlfriend, and refused to let her leave the vehicle they drove in from Western Mass. on Monday, Marlborough Police say.

Marlborough Police arrested Michael Joseph Rabideau, 22, of 23 Cold Harbor Drive, Northborough, and charged him with kidnapping for extortion, intimidating a witness, assault and threatening to commit a crime.

Marlborough Police had responded at 4:35 p.m. to a reported disturbance at Hunt's Mobil on West Main Street.

The woman told police she had been held against her will by an ex-boyfriend, but had escaped at the station, said Detective Scott Deceiro, a Marlborough Police spokesman.

The woman told police that she and the suspect had left Longmeadow together, and she agreed to that, but while on the Mass Pike, the man had reportedly demanded money for gas and held her in the vehicle against her will, Deceiro said.

The woman told the suspect an acquaintance would meet them at Hunt's Mobil to provide the money, Deceiro said.
