An Easthampton man was arrested after he was denied a request to charge his cell phone at a frozen yogurt shop in town.
Keith R. Avella, 38, of 233 Main St., Easthampton, was arrested by Northborough police and charged with malicious destruction of property, resisting arrest and disorderly conduct.
According to police, Avella entered the Yowza! Frozen Yogurt Paradise on Main Street on Nov. 23 and became agitated when his request for a place to charge his cell phone was not met. As he left the store, he threw open the door, breaking its hinge, and remained belligerent when police arrived a short time later.
Judge Vito Virzi released Avella on personal recognizance and set a pretrial hearing for Jan. 10.
