Man Assaults K9 During B&E to Northborough Apartment

A Worcester man was charged with B&E, disorderly conduct and cruelty to animals after resisting arrest.

Police arrested a Worcester man who allegedly broke into a Northborough apartment on Sunday.

Giovannluis Rodriguez, 2 Preston St., Apt. 8., Worcester, was arrested after police responded to a breaking and entering to an apartment at 39 Pleasant St. in Northborough.

When police arrived, the person who reported the burglary and the victim were outside the apartment, when they learned that the victim's mom was still inside.

Some items inside the apartment were damaged and some personal items were taken, according to police.

A Massachusetts State Police K9, "Brutis," assisted in tracking Rodriguez. Northborough police and state police followed Brutis through the swampy area of Cold Brook Beadow, where they found Rodriguez laying down in the swamp.

Rodriguez resisted arrest and assaulted Brutis. He is charged with B&E in the night time to commit a felony, larceny from a building, resisting arrest, animal cruelty and disorderly conduct. Rodriguez was also arrested on an outstanding warrant.
