Alleged Shoplifter Drives Vehicle at Shop Employees

The incident happened at the Amazing Superstore and Smoke Shop on Sunday night.

An alleged shoplifter drove his vehicle at Amazing Superstore and Smoke Shop employees when he left the parking lot Sunday evening, Northborough Police say.

Police have "preliminarily identified" the suspect in the incident, which was reported at the shop, at 15 Belmont St. (Route 9) around 7 p.m., police said in a press release Sunday night.

Police said they anticipate charging the suspect with shoplifting, assault with a dangerous weapon, operating recklessly so as to endanger, and violating Massachusetts Department of Transportation rules and regulations.

The suspect allegedly let the shop "with a glass smoking pipe after it was handed to him to inspect," police said.

"When fleeing the lot, the suspect drove his vehicle at one of the store employees who left the store to get the number plate of the suspect's vehicle," police said.
