Alleged Drunken Driver Reads Text, Hits Snow Bank

An allegedly drunken driver drove off a Northborough road "while he was reading a text message from a friend" early Sunday, police say.

Benjamin T. Bradley's car was seen in a snowbank by Officer Jeremy Trefry, police said in a press release Sunday night.

The incident happened on Pleasant Street, at Church Street, at 2:39 a.m., according to the Northborough Police log.

Bradley failed field sobriety tests, police said.

Police charged Bradley, 23, of 35 Rockwell Drive, Shrewsbury, with operating under the influence of liquor; drinking alcohol from an open container in a motor vehicle; sending/reading an electronic message; negligent operation of a motor vehicle; and a marked lanes violation.
